Blackwork Anemones and Blue-tit
BLACKWORK PATTERN DESIGNED BY Lesley Teare Designs
This pattern by Lesley Teare features stylized anemones embroidered in Blackwork and a small tit (or chickadee) in cross stitch. The brighter colors of the small bird stand out aginst the soft lavender blue of the flowers. The anemones are worked with a variety of tiny lace like motifs and the heart of the large one is highlighted with seed beads.
Like cross stitch, Blackwork is a counted thread technique, with stitches represented on a grid. A majority of stitches are backstitch, with some cross stitch filling certain areas. The chart comes with an extensive Stitching Guide detailing all stitches including fractional stitches.
