Saami Folkies
CROSS STITCH PATTERN DESIGNED BY RIVERDRIFT HOUSE
In the designer's own words:
The amazing Saami people of Lapland in the frozen north were wonderful to turn into Folkies for cross stitch. The bright colours of their beautiful costumes against the monochromatic landscape are a joy, as are the reindeer they tend with such loving care.
Creative Poppy says:
The Folkies cross stitch pattern collection designed by Riverdrift House is a series of designs dedicated to different regions, this one featuring the Sami people inhabiting Lapland which spreads accross 4 countries in the far North: Norway, Sweden, Finland and a part of Russia. In each of the Folkies pattern, a couple stands straight and dignified, wearing their beautifully detailed traditional folk costumes and proudly displaying their folk and homeland customs. The sami costume is caracterized by colorful woven textiles, women's fringed shalls, men's traditional pointed hats and reindeer fur boots.
