Pride & Prejudice (Jane Austen)
CROSS STITCH PATTERN DESIGNED BY Gera! by Kyoko Maruoka
A young woman is sitting under a tree, totally absorbed in the reading of her book. A lion is resting peacefully on her lap.
Designed in the manner of an ancient tapestry, the piece is entirely filled with bright and colorful cross stitches, with flowers covering the entire background like a carpet.
The piece is actually a reference to both the antique tapestry , the Lady and the unicorn - from which it derives the image of a beast resting peacefully on the woman's lap - and Elizabeth, the main protagonist of the book by19th century English writer Jane Austen.
Designer Kyoko Maruoka of GERA! is indeed fascinated by literary characters of novels from which she draws inspiration for many of her designs.
