CHART PACK:
Polly Kirby Sampler
CROSS STITCH PATTERN DESIGNED BY Barbara Ana Designs
Here's Polly Kirby, an exquisite design by Barbara Ana Designs in the manner of an antique cross stitch Sampler.
The text comes in irregular letters and occupies most of the top part:
" Jesus permit thy gracious Name
to stand as the first effort of an infant's hand
And while her fingers on the canvas move
engage her tender heart to seek Thy Love"
The pattern features many animals at different scales, as well as fruit and a house. Central in the pattern is the scene from the Bible with Adam and Eve and the snake.
The text in the small cartouche (This I have done in the year of the Lord 1817) is done in tent stitch using one strand of floss over one linen thread.
The sampler is stitched in beautiful colors with a slightly faded effect. There are multiple shades of blue, purple, light lavender contrasting with the rest of the pattern which comes in differents hues of brown.
This pattern is an original design, not a reproduction sampler.
