Big Bow Christmas wreath

This spectacular cross stitch motif features an oversize Christmas wreath with children busy embellishing it with a large flowing red ribbon. Two intrepid boys have been escalating the holly and mistletoe branches, fixing the top bow, while the girls gracefully arrange the ribbons and a younger boy hangs ornaments. Thus the motif is not only decorative, it comes alive with the small figures as they enjoy the excitement of decorating the house for the festive season.
Designer Perrette Samouiloff excels at depicting both subjects, children tenderly depicted, and the joy of Christmas to come. The pattern comes in a rich mix of reds and pinks, contrasting with the more subdued greens of the foliage and purples of the children's clothes. There is a tiny touch of fractional stitch for the top right boy's collar. The rest of the stitching is quite straightforward. The piece is cross stiched on 28ct white linen but could be worked on any white fabric of your choice including Aida.
