Victorian Children playing in Summer
CROSS STITCH PATTERN DESIGNED BY Perrette Samouiloff
It's summer. The children are out playing the park. The boys play hula hoop and tennis, dressed in jackets and wearing beribboned hats. The girls are wearing long, frilly panties under the puffy skirts of their fitted dresses. One of them chases a bird, another collects flowers and the third walks around with her parasol.
Designer Perrette Samouiloff depicts the children in cross stitch with both great talent and much tenderness.
You can stitch this piece following the original round layout of the chart. Worked on 32 ct linen (or 16 ct Aida), it will fit into a 12 inch hoop.
Alternatively, you can also cross stitch the children's motifs in pairs or trios, for alternative children's projects with a horizontal layout such as pouches, bags, door plaques, etc.... Here are suggested pairs:
- the boy with the hoop and the girl with the bird
- the gardener and the flower girl
- the tennis player and the spectator with the parasol
A cross stitch pattern by Perrette Samouiloff.
