A Pearl from the Sea

Riding a flamingo, a mermaid rises from the sea, proudly carrying a precious pearl in her hand. A key is hanging from her wrist, possibly the key to her underwater kingdom?
Both flamingo and mermaid are wearing wreaths of delicate flowers on their head. The rest of the design is kept very simple, with an emphasis on style.
The cross stitch design has somewhat of a vintage 60s or 70s feel, both in terms of colors, with the use of ocre and deep aqua, as well as in the way the surrounding motifs are suggested: twisting vertical lines for the sea, large yellow dots for the flowers, and a repetitive white background motif for the mist raising from the sea.
The motif is round, measures less than 7 inch in diameter when stitched on 32ct linen and can be framed in a 8" hoop.
