Peacock Finery
CROSS STITCH PATTERN DESIGNED BY Lesley Teare Designs
This cross stitch design is exceptional, both by its visual impact and by its size. It was originally created by designer Lesley Teare as a motif for a fire screen and has a bit of an Art deco feel.
The peacocks feathers are displayed in a splendid harmony of blue and green hues. The surrounding elements contribute to the general ornamental feeling, while the eye focuses on the bird's head and crest, crowned with a golden disk in the background.
While this is a large piece, it remains an easy stitch. It is worked entirely in cross stitch.
There are some golden metallic highlights adding extra texture to the beautiful palette of embroidery floss colors.
