"This sampler was designed to celebrate the 400th anniversary of the voyage of the Mayflower from Plymouth UK, carrying 102 passengers in search of a life in the New World where they might flourish free from religious persecution."

References in the stitching include:

	The Mayflower, a 3-masted merchant ship commanded and part-owned by Christopher Jones (CJ with anchor)
	The second group of English who set off from Leiden, Holland (where they had fled 12 years previously to escape persecution in England)
	Plymouth Harbour, from which the pilgrims embarqued. The Plymouth Steps, where the Mayflower memorial is located, appear to the left of the vessel
	Setting anchor at Cape Cod. A group of both passengers and crew set off exploring the area enduring hardship in the cold winter weather.
	WB William Bradford became first Governor of the Colony, writing a detailed journal ‘Of Plimoth Plantation’
	Pilgrim John Goodman's dogs, a Mastiff and English Springer Spaniel, brought along for the voyage and who became essential members of the settlement.
