CROSS STITCH PATTERN DESIGNED BY RIVERDRIFT HOUSE
In the designer's own words:
A happy, geometric design on a traditional country theme, especially planned for fast and easy stitching.
The multi-coloured thread helps speed the work up and gives the effect of a more complex pattern. Working the areas in the multi coloured thread in horizontal rows will give the effect shown in the model, but a more random approach will work equally well as the overall pattern is so emphatic.
The grey houses and flower leaves give some optical relief, making the strong colours shine out. The whole finished needlework almost looks three-dimensional - great fun!
Creative Poppy says:
This pattern uses DMC Variegated embroiderey floss N° 115 (stranded cotton), a very beautiful thread and one of the most popular in the Variegated range (check out the last column of the DMC color card).
DMC Variegated should not to be confused with DMC Color Variation which varies rapidly in tone (less than an inch). The DMC Variegated red gradually changes from light to medium to dark red over sections at least 6 inch long. Unlike Color Variations, it is not necessary to complete a cross stitch at a time to get the full color effect. You can work in rows as suggested, or fill in certain areas at a time.
