A Cup of Frida
CROSS STITCH PATTERN DESIGNED BY Barbara Ana Designs
Frida Kahlo is a great source of inspiration for Barbara Ana who has created a number of needlework designs in tribute to the artist.
This particular cross stitch pattern is again full of symbolism. It features a large mug, with the effigy of the artist, represented with kissed eyes, red cheeks and flowers woven in her hair. Over her white shirt, she wears a striking pendant in the shape of a black bird.
From above the cup, rising in the manner of steam, objects and flowers appear as if revealing the intimate thoughts of the female artist.
The cross stitch piece was worked on 32ct Raw/Gold linen, a natural linen needlework fabric with finely woven Gold filaments, by Zweigart. The embroidery was mounted into a cushion cover with a matching rustic weave fabric. With its vivid colors, the cross stitch pattern would also look stunning on a bright color background.
