Bethlehem
CROSS STITCH PATTERN DESIGNED BY Tapestry Barn
This nativity scene comes in a large generous format and will make a colorful and decorative hanging on the wall come Christmas time. The town of Bethlehem, the birth place of Jesus Christ, is depicted in attractive colors and shapes, with magnificent houses, ornamental windows and arches, and domed roofs and cupolas. Large palm tree branches above the roofs hint at the desert just beyond.
The central focus is however on newborn Jesus represented in a crib bathed in light, surrounded by the silhouettes of Mary and Joseph. In the sky above studded with smaller stars, is the large and luminous star of Bethlehem that will guide the three wise men to the holy scene.
The work is cross-stitched on navy Aida fabric. The upper part is thus left blank to evoke the sky, while the lower part is filled. Metallic gold thread highlights enhance the effects of light.
The finished embroidery is mounted on a dowel to hang on the wall and embellished with a fringe trimming at the base. The canvas can thus be easily rolled up after Christmas and stored without damage.
