This antique cross stitch sampler is an exceptional piece of needlework. It is remarkable by the richness of its symbols and the extraordinary succession of "trees of life" featured. It was stitched in 1841 by a young girl who signed with her initials, MB.
The sampler also has a very interesting element in the top right with two characters that seem to have been added at the end and are remarkable in the way their clothes are depicted.
